I straightened them out a bit, so at least pushchair and wheelchair users can now get past without having to go into the roadway to get around the parked cars

I saw that recently. It certainly explains all those films with Bruce Willis featured prominently on the cover art but which turn out to have him in there for approximately two minutes, somewhere off in the distance with his back to the camera

There's an opportunity to not watch one or more of those this evening.

"10 Minutes Gone (2019)" (3.6*) and "First Kill (2017)" (5* must be a real cracker) on Sony Movies.

Just completed an intense few hours of writing tests and fixing corner case bugs, and I think I'm ready to let this thing I've been working on for a few weeks go forward, to possibly even be put into production. So I've rewarded myself with activation of the teapot for a nice cup of tea

Evening all

I was a bit hungover this morning so didn't get up all that early and then we went out and about to do chores (to the tip, drop a picture off at the framers, to B&Q, to a builders merchants to look at slabs, to IKEA to join the slowest returns queue known to man). My first time to Paisley! I get to visit all the good places in Scotland.

It's been dry and warm enough but overcast with no breeze to speak of. Currently 12 degrees. There's rain forecast overnight and the barometer has dropped to 1007 mBar.

GitHub Actions are quite amazing when you think about it. You just say "When anybody submits some changes you should fire up a server, install all this software on it, run these hundreds of tests, and when they're done just throw it away again" - and it does, and only takes about three minutes from start to finish

Busy again here tonight. If I might just interject…

Tonight's Major Motion Picture Premiere was Inferno (2016) which achieved the remarkable feat of being not just worse but considerably worse than the first two. I think the secret behind these is to base the story around vague references to a context (Dante in this case) which rather dim people (who are, after all, in the majority, given that our society gauges people relative to those who are quite gifted) know is respected by clever and intellectual people, with just enough (often wrong) explication to make them think they understand that context in sufficient depth to have followed the (badly-constructed and very loose) plot, and therefore they themselves must be clever and intellectual. They aren't, and it's a very bad film - but a very clever, if non-intellectual, way of making a mass-market audience think they're clever

Frankly, I wanted to kill it after the first twelve minutes (I checked the time) and many more times throughout, and only watched it to the end so I wouldn't, some time in the future, think "I never finished that, I should give it another chance" and subject myself to it again

So onwards! To something Now In 4K and what better excuse could there be, if one needs an excuse, to rewatch Speed (1994) which is… well, you know what it is, and if you don't, you'll enjoy finding out. Always worth a watch even in SD, so 4K is just the icing on the cake and a good excuse

I should have gone to sleep then, but instead I watched a couple of episodes of The Shield because it's a show that benefits from one not being in a fit state, as one is then in the same state as many of the protagonists: S3E8 Cracking Ice (TV Episode 2004) and S3E9 Slipknot (TV Episode 2004). As always with this show, the only people who end up looking good are… well, there aren't any
