Just remembered I still needed to cancel the Green Flag breakdown cover that I had to get because Tesco Bank thought the Corolla was too old - it was set to auto renew if I didn't

Phoned them up expecting a bit of a wait, as when I tried the other afternoon the robot warned of a long queue before my call would be answered. But I got straight through (pace navigating the menus and getting various messages about coronavirus) and when I told the lady who answered, she cancelled the renewal straight away without any of that "customer retention" nonsense

Entertainment: HSB S1 E2 "Presidential Fever" wherein stuff happens and POTUS is about to visit the hill. Caruso showed up as one of the gang leaders (Irish gang), and BR14 is correct about Furillo's ex wife, she's a mouthy pain in the arse.

But we knew that from watching it 40 years ago.

Now watching "Secrets of the Solar System" on Yesterday, which is all about asteroids.

At 21:00 on Quest, some nonsense about weather balloons near Roswell New Mexico.

At 22:00 Timeless S2 E7 "Mrs Sherlock Holmes" wherein our heroes go back to 1919.

At 23:00 "Sapphire and Steel" E5&6. Silver got offed in E4.

The thing about the asteroids and comets was rather inneresting in its way, covering the last 30 or so years of rendezvousing with assorted comets and asteroids.

Tea has been a few southern "fried" chicken bits, with fries and lashings of ketchup. Made a nice change

The chicken was from the freezer section of Sainsbury's, pretty cheap, and TBH seemed like it might be aimed at kids or those of a less discerning palate (which is saying something given my palate); but they were nice enough for the price

And Sainsbury's only have a very limited range of breaded chicken in the normal meat section just now; lots of burgers and goujons and dippers and whatnot, but I prefer bone-in thighs and drumsticks, which seem to be off the order book at the moment.

I must remember to look for some from M&S next time I'm there, as theirs have a good flavour to the coating.

Triple feature night tonight, starting with 1984 (1984) (no idea why IMDb insists on calling it that, Nineteen Eighty-Four is right there on screen in the opening credits) being the 80s adaptation of Orwell's novel. When it came out I remember the reviews being somewhere from dismissive to scathing, but sometimes that happens and later the consensus is that it was pretty decent actually. Sadly, not the case with this one. It tries, but it's not very good; clumsy in the way it attempts to portray Winston's inner life in contrast to the world he lives in, and laborious in its depiction of Airstrip One. It gets better once he's in the hands of the Thought Police, but only because that largely amounts to Richard Burton speaking the words of George Orwell, which is bound to be a winning combination under any circumstances. A wasted opportunity, given the talent involved

Onwards to the rewatches, with Proud Mary (2018). I say again, good stuff and well worth a watch

And finally, Side Effects (2013) which is a cunningly constructed thriller also well worth watching should you happen upon it, as I've hinted at before
