Trundling of the recycling bin has been completed
Interesting how it feels quite chilly out there, even though it’s 11°C, because of having been warmer in the day. Only a few weeks ago, I would have experienced 11° as very warm, and a few weeks before that thought 7° was a relatively balmy nighttime temperatureComment

Ooh learned a new thing! During the really hot summer of 2018 there were lots of points issues on the railway tracks which was caused by the rails heating up. Painting the tracks white reduces their temperature by about 5%! I didn't fathom if that solves the points failuresComment

Continuous welded rail is prestretched to account for expansion.
Unfortunately it wasn't prestretched enough for 2018 which makes it buckle.
This is Not A Good Thing To Happen.
HTH.
It wasn't so much of a problem with the old tiddley pom tiddly pom rails which had fishplates every so often.
It's disturbing that I know that without looking it up.Last edited by DoctorStrangelove; 9 April 2020, 21:35.When the fun stops, STOP.Comment
