Morning all

Cloudy but quite bright out there - which is more than you can say for me. After two nights awake following Monday's final root canal appointment I was down at the dentist early this morning. Turns out that he'd left the tooth protruding just a little bit too much, and so every time I closed my mouth it irritated the gums and jaw.

I'm now feeling no pain dosed up on paracetamol and codeine, with a side dose of antibiotics.

And now we're off to eye casualty to find out why Mrs CB has lost half of the sight in her right eye. Something retinal is the current diagnosis and so she needs photographs of it taking.

Just to top off a wonderful day, it looks as though the client is going to bin me. More on than later.

Bummer, man.



At least I can rub ibuprofen gel in my elbow & foot.

And the aura passed off after half an hour.

I'm several chapters in and he hasn't started sniping yet, though he has seen a chap with a rifle that's got a strange tube on top.

Some ancient printouts from the 1980s are about to hit the skip.

Not a lot of call for CAP16 assembler any more.

Even less considering the machine it drove got scrapped in 1988.

The stuff driving the 9300 Fet tester is going too.

IIRC there's 2 boxes of fanfold paper upstairs that are about the same age but blank.

Not sure there's a lot of call for fan fold any more.

Though there is a printer upstairs that's got a tractor feed.

I wonder if you can still get ribbons.

I've got a box of fanfold A4, and an Epson FX80 that would use it should I find anything with a parallel printer port

And, astonishingly, FX80 ribbons are available on eBay for four to five quid

It was ok.

Yes, binned by client albeit with notice paid.

End ClientCo have suddenly decided to shorten the discovery period, added a bunch of extra countries and stipulated "extensive and mandatory" travel to those sites, which was never mentioned in the months of pre-contract discussions. TBH I think there's a bit of a feud going on between ClientCo UK, ClientCo USA and EndClientCo. They all pretty much hate each other.

Anyway, as I don't fancy being told to drop everything head off for weeks at a time (especially with a sick Mrs CB and two CovKids) the ClientCo have binned me. All quite amicable and I suspect things are going to go south in the next weeks anyway.

It's just a bit of a bummer on top of everything else.
