Latest on the parents' car: the Honda garage said they couldn't repair it, as it needs a new rear wing and Honda no longer supply them for 22-year-old Civics, and they're only allowed to use parts from Honda

So I suggested finding a decent local garage and asking them to quote on it. This lead to them remembering a place that, in fact, fitted the now-damaged wing about ten years ago, when the original one had developed rust. So they've got in touch with them, and the bloke there is going to collect the car from the Honda garage and see what needs doing and give them a quote.

This place has a really good reputation, to the extent one can tell from online reviews, and did a great job for them last time.

So even if they both decide it's time to stop driving, which is a possibility, at least they'll have a running vehicle to sell to the kind of person who wants a 22-year-old Honda Civic with low mileage

Change of dinner plans. It was going to be ravioli, but having looked after a neighbour's dog for the day, I've been rewarded with bacon from one of their pigs.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

In an effort to keep my dinner local, it was bacon (from the field behind our house) dry cooked on the bbq in a Kadai skillet. After the bacon was cooked, I cracked two eggs (from my chickens at the bottom of the garden) into the bacon fat.
This has been washed down with a glass of wine (from my white vine in the greenhouse)

If I'd used our fire pit to cook the food, then it would have been burning wood from one of the trees I took out of the garden a couple of years ago.

              Evening all

Currently watching a thing on PBS about Monte Casino.

One of the chaps I worked with in 3M fought at Casino.

In other news, a trip to Cardiff to see my Sister has given rise to revelations about a GF of some 25 years ago.

              Funny how things turn out.

It would appear that she did, in fact, love me.

              Ho hum.

In other other news, yesterday's surfeit of cruciferous wegetables has made its 3rd exit of the day.

Now we're onto PQ17 narrated by one J. Clarkson.

Watched the Apple Developer thing. Looks like they might have finally come up with something that would make it worthwhile switching to Swift

And then some more mucking about with this maps stuff

Wot you doing with maps? I am likely to be venturing into the world of geofencing and general mappy goodness in the near future.

Various things to do with identifying and drafting specs for mapping APIs used by various extant services and libraries and writing examples of use cases, to go towards a draft spec for a proposal to make maps a standardised HTML element, similar to the way <video> and <audio> replaced assorted non-standard plugins while still allowing for various formats and custom UIs
