Just one, but it was very abrasive and soapy

Tonight's main viewing started with Jack Rosenthal's Spend Spend Spend, based on the autobiography of Viv Nicholson, whose husband won the then-princely sum of £152,319 on the pools in 1961 which they managed to get through in impressively short order. Thanks to the BBC Genome project, I know exactly when I last watched this: Tuesday 15 March 1977, starting at twenty-five past nine in the evening.

And the 1970s BBC drama kick then continued with Mike Leigh's Abigail's Party, which I don't believe I saw when it was first broadcast in November 1977, but did see when it was repeated some twenty years later along with a bunch of rather superfluous programmes about it, which seemed mainly to have been created merely to allow the BBC's staff to finally put their media studies degrees to some use.

(It's odd that Abigail's Party doesn't have its own IMDb page.)

Both excellent stuff, though personally I think Mike Leigh's earlier Nuts in May (which I remember watching either first time around in 1976, or maybe when it was repeated in 1977) is even better than Abigail's Party. I may watch that tomorrow night

          Goodnight all

OK, important things done - The Dog (tw) + Teasel have been walked.

              Now back to work.

Time to sort some more lego mindstorms for SWIMBO.

                Well that didn't take long.

It appears that I did most of it yesterday.

So it's back to the usual tedium.

Look on the bright side, it's a bit cooler than yesterday.
