It's a bit late to start cooking dinner, so I suppose I'd better nip down the Chinese

      Indeed!

Very busy it was, primarily with deliveries - though there was another walk-in, just after I arrived

Tonight's first show was the pilot episode of The Deuce (2017), an HBO drama series set in the porn and sex industry of New York in the 1970s. Very good, as you'd expect from the creators of The Wire.

After that: Ronin (1998), featuring a bunch of former Cold War operatives trying to undertake a freelance mission in the late 1990s. An excellent action thriller with some great car chases through various scenic cities in France.

And finally, Closed Circuit (2013), a rather more cerebral thriller about a couple of London lawyers tangling with MI5 over a terrorism case. Very good, I thought. Also, the opening shot showed a corner of the Market Porter pub in Borough, which was the scene of a CUK summer get-together a few years back

One my favourite films that, De Niro and Reno as always are excellent, Sean Bean does a good Walter Mitty too.

Loved the "What's the colour of the boathouse at Hereford" scene

Also, definitely some of the best movie car chases - up there with The Italian Job (proper, original version) and The Bourne Identity.

                  Grey day out

Warmer than it has been though. Apparently there'll be some rain later which will wash away the last of the snow, though most of it has gone already.

Today's progress: learning a lot about the Apache Velocity template language because automating the naming of test case classes in templates based on the file name allows me to avoid the tricky business of writing code that does useful stuff.

However, I've managed to tear myself away from the documentation on writing IntelliJ IDEA plugins, to which I found my way through idly thinking "It'd be handy if PyCharm showed a list of Django URL configurations."

Let's try to get back to making the thing I'm supposed to be working on

Sounds fun on a weekend! I was trying to do an Edge addin that allows me to get OS Grid reference instead of lat/long from Bing maps but the maths is incredibly complicated. Then I had a "brilliant" idea. Since I'm only interested in an area of few square miles I could just set up some tables based on local points and then interpolate. Trouble is, when I did graphs of one format vs the other the lines were dead wobbly!

Darn god! If he'd made the earth flat I wouldn't have his problem!
