Mr C has gone for a lie down after our epic car journey.
We have promised ourselves an Indian takeaway once he's recovered.
I'm currently dreaming of a lamb dansak (with poppadoms and pickles, obv...)"I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."

I split them into two batches for the first (160°C) fry, each of 400g. The first batch came out as 300g, and the second as 287g. So they lose about a quarter of their mass in that initial fry, presumably in the form of water driven off, some of which is of course replaced by oil taken up. (I don't have the facilities to weigh the fryer, so I don't know how much oil that was.)
None of this information is likely to be of any great value to me or anybody else, but for what it's worth, there it isComment

Dinner has been a rack of ribs, cooked slowly in smoky Jack Daniels BBQ sauce, with chips; and it came out very well indeed
The ribs were from last June (2016), so they're the very last item that was originally frozen in the old fridge-freezer. They were also a bargain, as M&S had failed to remove a 3-for-£10 sign from the shelf where they were displayed even though that offer was no longer running. When the self-checkout charged me full whack for them, I spotted it and called them out, and they refunded the difference
And the new batch of chips are the first from the Norfolk potatoes that have now replaced the Israeli ones imported to tide us over the new potato season. East Anglian spuds really do make a distinctly superior chipComment
