40 years ago, as I was proceeding down Eastland road towards Stockam's Corner on the then current version of the one way system, being in the outside lane doing all of 30, an elderly gentleman decided to turn right from the inside lane into Arthur Street.

Fortunately the Zodiac Mk IV had very good brakes, which was just as well.

My local Sainsburys is "special" however luckily the local Asda is more special.

I was tempted to write to Sainsburys and ask them why they have no OP in.

Uneventful evening. What I find odd is that I leave the office at 4, jump in the car at 4.06, pass the splendidly named village of Thunderbridge at 5.15*, and arrive at my destination at 5.30. This has happened ten times now without interruption from the traffic gods. I'm expecting to spend the night in the car at some point in the future on account of this unfathomable predictability.

All else has gone smoothly to plan too, just awaiting some spicy sustenance to arrive.

          * - no particular reason to notice this spot, I just did the first time around and so it's a 'thing' now.

I got one of those porterhouse steaks from M&S today. Usually they have a use by date a week or two in the future, but once I was home I noticed this one's date was tomorrow. So that solved the question of what to have for dinner, and very nice it was too

Now to settle down with a beer and watch something on the box

There's a small wind pump in a field off the A14 that I always say hello to as I pass by, for much the same reason

On the A31 between the dead cat pub and the World's End, there's a wall around an old estate. Every time we're driving along that bit of road we have to say hello wall.

And don't forget one of the most popular tweets of last year: "You're never too old to say 'Horses!' when you drive past some horses"
