    Well, that's been a nerve-racking morning

I went for a blood test yesterday; just a bog-standard thing they're supposed to do every year, though they've forgotten the last two or three years. They draw three syringes of blood, and normally it takes about a week to get results, there's no problem, and life goes on.

Today at about 10am, less than 24 hours after they drew the blood, the surgery's on the phone saying the doctor needs to call me about the results

So since then I've been brooding over the various kinds of bad news that he might have for me, as one does in such circumstances

He finally called… and it's just that my cholesterol is slightly higher than they'd like to see

So we chatted briefly about it. I mentioned that due to work I'd been pretty sedentary and my diet has been, if anything, worse than usual for the last few months. I suggested I'd start getting more exercise and cut down a little on the sausages, and he said that's fine and they'll check again in six months

Anyway, no need to let these sausages in the fridge go to waste…

I know where it is, it's behind those boxes over there. And no clothes hanging on it!

I need to get back on that, don't I

I gave blood yesterday. Have done so on 35 previous occasions without problems.

About 3.30am, I woke up feeling like I was about to faint (even though I was recumbent) - felt very sick and thought I was gonna chuck, so in my oxygen deprived state made for the bathroom before collapsing on the bedroom floor (apparently - I have no recollection). Then passed out cold for a couple of minutes. I remember coming round on the bed wondering why the feck my nose was so sore (faceplanting the floor can have that effect).

Feeling OK this morning, but a wee bit shaky still (and nose is cut and bruised). WFH to be on the safe side. I fear my blood-letting days are over.

There's different types of cholesterol, increase your HDL, decrease your LDL.
Eat mackerel. It's good for you, it's full of HDL, it's British, and grilled with a bit of home made pesto, it's part of a nice meal.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

I think the general lack of pork related items might put him off. Mackerel wrapped in bacon?
