Picked up 4 new (BHWT) chickens on Sunday. We were down to 2 old ones, and yesterday had to dispatch one of them.
The 4 newbies are originally from Essex where they were caged.
Until Sunday they had never seen daylight or pecked soil. They are also balder than me. One of them is already squeezing out 75g eggs, the others are probably still in shock - I'm not expecting any eggs for a few more days.…Maybe we ain’t that young anymoreComment

Home!
The motorway junction was better than usual, though local traffic is a bit worse than it might be. I believe there's a lane closed for roadworks down the road, which might account for itComment

Ribeye steak and chips for tea. Lovely, thick, tender, juicy steak it was. The chips turned out beautifully tooComment

I'm tempted to deviate from my usual abstemious midweek habits* and have a glass of wine

Morning denizens
Mainly clear towards the horizon where the first light glimmers, but there's a bank of thin cloud overhead. Looks like it may be a bit variable todayComment
