As I understand, it is illegal to release the creatures so once trapped they must be killed. It's also illegal to kill them in an inhumane way, so chucking the trap in a binfull of water isn't considered sporting. I think the only thing which can be done is to shoot them, but that's a bit tricky also if they're in a little cage.

What's your method, Fox Hat? I always wondered about mains voltage through the cage
You're right, it's illegal to release once they have been caught and you must do it humanely.
The cages have a mesh big enough to get a .22 in. Back of the head, or like the one did yesterday, it tried to bite the muzzle so I took the shot. I then reload and follow up with a second shot from a different angle to make sure.

The chickens are rehomes from the BHWT. Their feeder is:

So they stand on the plate at the front and the cover comes up for them to feed. It's set so that a pigeon/crow/jackdaw isn't heavy enough to open it, but a squirrel or pheasant can.

      .223?

      .22LR?

      .22 short?

      .22 magnum?

      or .22 popgun?

Stone me, there's more of them than I thought:

Just tried out a new recipe, salmon fillet with a pesto and breadcrumb topping. It was well nice.

Very popular with the Septics apparently.

They even had special guns to kill 'em with.

After all, guns don't kill people, they kill squirrels.

                    Or something.
