Agent I chatted to late yesterday afternoon finally got around to sending me the fairly vague spec for a role he's putting me forward for. Turns out there's an "x would be a bonus" where not only do I have specific experience of x, I also have experience of applying it and writing custom components for it in an extremely similar context to the client's use case. x was never mentioned in the phone conversation

He's talking to the client about the gig later and now I've clued him in, he's tells me he'll be sure to mention it. Good job I found out about it in time

Well, dug out the old, discontinued PICKIT2, just to see if that made any difference, & waddya know? it just fecking works.

Dug out another brand ing new PICKIT3, and waddya know? that one doesn't fecking work either.

Did you get him to say the words back to you to ensure he understood properly? It sometimes takes my dog a few attempts to learn something new but I find treats help her along.

There's an ep of Big Bang Theory where Sheldon does that with Penny.

Phone interview set up for Monday

This is for a gig that I was quite keen on last week; but now there's this other one I'm waiting to hear about that sounds much more interesting

The latter also has the advantage of being with an agency that pays weekly

Still, it sounds like they're moving pretty quickly on the one that I now want, with the agent saying they may even be up for a face-to-face tomorrow, so maybe the interview for the other one will be handy for rushing them into a decision

It was a loooooong time ago now.

Not so much "in demand" as "throwing CVs against the wall until one of them sticks"
