Do I carry on writing documentation today, or shall I attempt to put some comments in the code ?

If your had met ours you would know its not a very high threshold. Supposedly he's an Microsoft MVP but the rest of the company won't use him. Our solution is to listen to what he suggests and do the exact 100% opposite...

And as I've just redesigned the external connections to 20 different critical systems I think I can use the word

I thought comments were the documentation. Especially bits that begin

Spent 2 days trying to understand how this works but it does. Best not touch it....

The bulk of the code was handed to me by a permie who left and its truly awful.
I think I'll stick to writing a hand over document.

I think some most of my code is awful.

I remember being asked to let someone else have some GA FORTRAN IV code to modify to run on a Vax.

I don't think she got very far with it, since it used every extension that GA had dreamed up.

I suspect it would have gone totally tits up when she read the first BYTE variable definition.

Not to mention the creative use of EQUIVALENCE, which was one of my favourites.

She's pretty much over that, but still up and down with various other issues

But the worst she was complaining about on Sunday was indigestion, so not too bad really
