I'm not dissing it - the fact is when I came here as a student, it was Leicester Polytechnic, so I still think of it as "the poly"
I never agreed with the attitude that universities were somehow superior to polytechnics anyway. They served different purposes: universities were more focused on purely academic studies, whereas polys focused on teaching stuff that was actually useful. Well, except the Fine Art department
At least you just think about it as the Poly. Northumbria is the poly until I remember the letterhead for the City University of Newcastle upon Tyne....

At least it still exists.
Mine went from City of London Polytechnic, to London Guildhall University, to not existing anymore. They've even demolished the building that housed the Comnputer Science department.
Mind you, when I was there even the Students refered to it as tulipty Poly.

Mine keeps changing its name and back again to it's former name.
