Oops! My security camera software got confused about where to save stuff, probably when I was rebooting my NAS drives a while ago, and has been streaming to the local hard drive on the old MacBook on which it runs. The poor thing's had a full startup disk for nearly a week, but as I only see it when I connect via Remote Desktop, I didn't know
Now moving approximately 58GB of data off there, from another machine as even the Finder threatens to crash if I ask it to do too muchComment

Mind you, it's quite impressive that the desktop has managed to continue to run, even though it has zero bytes of hard disk space. It's even suspended the couple of applications that were running when space finally ran out, so they can be gracefully restored to their running state as if bad things had never happened once the problem is sorted out. I suspect most OSes would have just crashed brutally in such circumstancesComment

Well, that was an expensive afternoon. New iPhone 6, and nearly a hundred quid spent at Sainsbury's, made the cost of filling the car seem like a mere pittance
I thought about getting the iPhone 6 Plus, but it's just too big
I might get one if I was expecting to be working a lot while on the move, and having a full HD screen in your hand is pretty cool for watching films, I suppose; but I tend to use my iPad for things like that. Plus, it doesn't fit in a jeans pocket, so it's not really convenient if you don't tend to carry a bag or wear a jacket.Comment

Current status: checking my old phone every five seconds to see if its SIM has been disabled, meaning my number has been transferred to the new phone and I can get on with setting it up
I suppose I shouldn't be so eager - once that's done, I'll have to use iTunesComment
