Make sure you keep an eye on them. We used to get home help in for my granddad before he went into a home.
Sometimes they'd turn up early, sometimes late. So some days they'd come round to help him get ready for bed at about 7pm, some days they'd turn up at the same time to make him tea. In the end, my dad ended up spending most of the day there anyway because you never knew when someone would be coming or going. Thankfully, he wasn't on any medication then or goodness knows whether he'd have got it or not.
As much of a wrench as it was (and we got social services to tell him that he couldn't go home on his own, even with home help) moving into the nursing home was the best move for him.
Yes, she had short term help after an op a few years back, and the lunchtime one would turn up the same time as the breakfast one. Far from ideal. Hopefully she'll come round to the idea of a home.
