Yup, fire engines tend to be fairly regular at teatime and seem to be more common at weekends. Ambulances are very frequent at all times with a slightly greater prevalence during rush hours; police cars less so.

One of the benefits of living over a pedestrian crossing is that you learn to tell them apart by their horns and sirens, so you don't have to look outside any more

Client has got a go-live coming up, and I can't just ditch stuff or we have to use the offshore Borg and then there's no turning back - I'll end up losing onshore contractors and we can't have that, can we?
        Absolutely not

When we lived within earshot of Enfield Police station we could tell when shift change was by the sirens starting up about 10 minutes before.

Ooh, ouch. So far I've been lucky - I've turned down London gigs simply because once I've taken into account travel and expenses, it's better to go for a cheaper local gig. If the right client comes up with a nice gig though, I wouldn't necessarily say no. C'est la vie, if you want a plan b. Hey, that rhymes.

            What are you cooking?

Ha! Good one. We've found a good'n'cheap kebab shop by following the coppers round here.

Looking at things, I can either give up my attempt to get to 1000 posts and do my banking change, or do a few more on here and go home.

I'm afraid the magic 1000 can wait. I'll just have to GOWSW.

I'd always avoided London, but this was most definitely the right client at the right price - always a good combination

Chicken casserole, fried potatoes, petits pois, I reckon
