    perl is a weird one IMO. If written properly it is fine. But very easy to obsfucate the code.

    I remember one interview where I gave the perl solution and was told that someone else had given a one line answer! I did not take the gig.....

        debugging perl? you poor sod.

        Mind you given some of the perl I've seen in the past it could take a month to understand what on earth its supposed to be doing.

          Yep, there does seem to be a need for Perl programmers to prove how clever they are by turning an entire block of code into one incredibly obscure and complicated line.

              indeed. Some of the stuff I've seen if horrendous. And in interviews I make a point of how I object to this approach as it makes the code unreadable and unmaintainable.
