    Afternoon denizens

    Comment

Just done the washing; now my shirts are nice and clean for ClientOrg next week

I must ensure that my next gig is somewhere sensible, like a media company or some such, where you can dress however you please - this idea ClientOrg has that you have to wear a button-down shirt to look professional is so 1950s

Ah well, could be worse - they could get everybody wearing ties, I suppose

Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

I spent eight years working in the meedja, dahling, wearing a tie every day. And that was when I was permie.

The IT department and the accountants had mandatory dress codes, no other department did.
My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.

                How very strange

I've heard of places where every department except IT had a dress code, but never the other way around.

I've just been doing some cleaning in the kitchen - I've decided to give it a thorough going-over, but in several easy stages.

Having hoicked out the fridge to see what might be behind and beneath it, I discovered a carrier bag which had somehow made its way into a far corner by a cupboard.

It was a biodegradable one. I know this because it had, in fact, biodegraded - much of it was reduced to a pile of fine plastic flakes

I never claimed to be the tidiest of people but I must admit, that's a bit much even for me

                    Quiet in here

On my return home a while ago, I realised that I'd left a couple of shirts and a pair of jeans on the washing line. Fearing their imminent colonisation by hordes of spiders, I went to retrieve them.

The couple in the Ground Floor Back have left their windows open, it being a warm night. As I went to collect my garments, it became obvious that they were in complete and enthusiastic agreement about something

Indeed, so enthused were they that it sounded as if they were jumping up and down on their furniture, the better to express the concord they felt

I retrieved my washing as quietly as I could (i.e. without bursting out laughing or shouting words of encouragement) and returned to base - I don't think I distracted them from their earnest philosophical debate
