OK, so the guy from the flat below is remanded in custody, the guy from the other flat down there is not so much a guy as a cannabis farm that has been removed by the Police, the guy from the flat along the corridor is on the run from the Police and is never coming back if he's got any sense, and the guy upstairs (an IT contractor as it happens) has gone away for Christmas.
So the question is: what film do I watch on DVD that is a bit noisy
I know...
Lola Rennt
Even though I don't know German, I always watch it in the original German with the English subtitles turned on - although I might now be able to dispose of the subtitles.
It's a brilliant film, but I firmly believe that it would be deeply lacking if one didn't hear the original actors' voices. No matter how good the dubbing and lip-synching, the voices count for a lot in that film.
This means that I have to delve into the menus to get it configured correctly, as I bought the DVD here where the English dub is the default, but it's worth it
"The ball is round... The game lasts ninety minutes... Everything else is theory."
(And no, it's not about football. It's a metaphor. Or something. Whatever, watch it in the original German, or you're missing out. And that quotation was originally in German but I don't know German so I can't type it in that )
