Turnover; could I please get access to the private form. Just spoke with white collar and need to give decision on myfd br Wednesday! Want to see how other people are handling this

      myFD

I turned down the offer. My gut feeling about this is that White Collar are making some extra ££ out of us poor souls before they call it day. Why else would myFD as an "unrelated company" be handed all the WC scheme info. Once everyone has been fleeced for their last few ££ then White Collar will say adios .

When I had my call from White Collar (about five weeks ago) I was also told of a similar deadline - five days to commit to myFD or not. IMO - this is despicable 'pressure' salesmanship - if the myFD referral actually is a collective effort to fight on behalf of ex-WCC scheme members, then there is NO justification for setting individual deadlines.

I am in a similar situation. Would like Private Group access please.

It is a ridiculous sales process. Light on detail, very quick decision process. Will take to FTT "if it goes there", they dont think it will. From my discussion the strategy seems to be that some similar scheme will go to FTT and UTT first. It will win and then this scheme will be cleared .. Not sure its that coherent.

The only reason I am considering it is that I see it as the only way to get access to actual scheme details and documentation.

I repeat that if myFD is operating under the rules and guidelines of the ICAEW (and they carry the logo so you would think so), they must supply you with an engagement letter setting out what they are doing for the fee.

If they are reluctant or it is vague or has no real objectives...

              Think very carefully.

There are a lot of accounting and advisory firms who operate under the above rules and those of the Chartered Institute of Taxation who would be happy to comply with the requirements.

Absolutely and my request is already in.
What I dont know, and my only reason for considering, is that if we went with someone else to represent us. How would they access the detailed design of the scheme, documentation that proves is legitimacy etc?

                  There are several ways.

                  1. As a user you are probably entitled to see all relevant documents
                  2. If refused, it's likely that a notice can be served to access them
                  3. HMRC can be asked to procure them - refusing that request brings serious consequences
                  4. Once HMRC has them, you can ask to see copies.

there are other ways that have more or less prejudice attached to them.

Experience shows that a big enough group of individuals, material on the net and a bit of knowledge can piece this together.

This problem (access to details of scheme execution etc) is shared with myFD who also have no right to the information from the provider.

                    My feelings too

I feel exactly the same way about this.

I am struggling to see the value for money because:

                    a) They are not tax experts and don't have knowledge of this sort of thing so don't have any "previous" with HMRC - which, as was explained to me, is the reason WC chose this company. If they are not experts how can they represent us in the best possible way just because they understand the scheme and have the documents ? what if HMRC through them a "curve ball", they won't know what to do and possibly will make the wrong decisions !! I would prefer to use a tax expert or accountant with thorough knowledge of these things to defend me !

                    b) They only offer support up to the first tribunal.

                    c) It may very well not go anywhere at all and so you would have spent £1200 for no reason.

I had a look through old emails and I don't have any details about the scheme, I asked WC for copies of docs and was told they don't have any, they were not involved in that capacity, I would need to ask Invicta for the docs. For the record I am going not going to use any company, I want to wait to see what happens and put some money aside ... just in case I need it.

                      What happened to ASMG

                      Hi All,

reading through the entire thread I am getting confused. Does anyone know of any group , representative body, consultants, etc for the scheme run by Assignment Solutions (IOM) /ASMG during 2005 to 2007 ? My settlement opportunity is for those two years and I can't for the life of me find anyone who was on that scheme or an entity representing it.

Any help would me much appreciated.
