Sorry to say but it sounds like you were paid via loans, without your knowledge*

Refer to Cojak's post, there is probably something in your contract - Umbrellas didn't begin to hide the loans until 2017

To simplify it further - the contract doesn't really matter.
You ultimately will need to prove how much money you received from Procorre - that is what you must pay tax on.

You need to appeal your HMRC assessment within 30 days - get professional assistance from a Tax Advisor

*It's very unlikely that HMRC are mistaken - it looks like Umbrellas might have given information to HMRC to get themselves off the hook for the tax

So, you need to go back to 2015-16 and look at how you were paid, who the "consulting agency" were, how the money got from the end client to you, etc.
      Thank you.
Times resources and Hudson Global were the consulting agencies. They paid to my Limited company the contract rate that was in the contract assigned by the the employment business. Could something be wrong still here?

OK, and who were your accountants?

Approximately how much of your contract rate did you get as take home pay?

With respect that's not what was asked.

Sorry. I did not get the question. You mean to ask how much of the agreed contract rate I was paid?

We are sorry too, but there isn't much point asking us - we haven't the access to your contracts and we are not tax specialists.

You need to speak to a tax specialist regarding your situation - HMRC rarely make mistakes regarding whether you did or didn't use a scheme.

(They makes loads of mistakes regarding the amount owed, but not on this point.)

Agreed. OP, please pay attention to what cojak is saying. It seems to me that the situation isn't as simple as you believe it to be.

OK, what I'm asking is, let's say your contract rate as agreed was £500 per day.
That £500 was paid into your Limited Company bank account.

Roughly how much of that £500 went into your personal bank account?
