Just received my letter from HMRC. Can anyone comment on how the Reg 80 determination has been made? It seems completely unrelated to anything I can think of, e.g. dividends taken, dividend+salary, company revenue, etc, etc. For all I can tell the number has been plucked out of thin air.

Mine seems to be having been calculated on salary and dividends I took and submitted as income on self-assessment tax return. I don't believe the figure is correct. If anything, would be higher as they add employer's NI on your gross profit after expenses (eg pension)

She might, this is a different animal in terms of scope and impacts. Then again, she might not. But it's definitely a good thing to pursue and probably the only small chance of a change in tack.
