I see no evidence of a petition to strike off in The Gazette, so that is likely incorrect.

In any case, I think HMRC would object to such a petition. They are likely just overwhelmed/ incompetent.

The director of The App Accounting Group Ltd is an ICAEW registered accountant:

You could try their complaints process, FWIW.

Boox Ltd was a previous company name (ditched in 2015), along with Liquid Numbers Ltd (ditched in 2011). Since then, it has been The App Accounting Group Ltd and that's the company we're talking about in this thread (while referring to it informally as "Boox"):

Correct. There is a company called boox limited that doesn’t appear to ever have traded, clearly related but not ‘the app accounting group’ trading as BOOX, which is the legal entity involved here.

App accounting group remains ICAEW regulated, and looks to also be trading as square accounting (website, contact details and all).

Ohhhh good to hear they are still at even though seemingly unavailable , not keeping everyone informed. Maybe a bit busy opening hundreds of letters. looking forward to receiving this one…

Boox never traded. The App Accounting group (is/was trading as Boox) still exists.

If you are no longer a client technically they are under no obligation to engage. Even if you are they are your company's accountant, not tax advisors.

Yes they should have a vested interest due to transfer of liabilities, but maybe they are busy using bitcoin to buy villas overseas.

                  Question;

When HMRC lose, can we take them to court for reimbursement of legal fees?

A tax tribunal is not a court and, at the First Tier Tribunal, costs are generally borne by each party so, in general, no. At later stages, it gets more complicated but, in general, the losing party can be made to pay some or all of the costs of the other party. This wouldn't involve "taking them to court", it would be for the Upper Tier Tribunal or court hearing the case to decide, absent prior agreement.

A couple pages back I posted a comment about speaking to companies house, my DS01 has not been filed even though I asked them (and paid them) to. So I have had to make a change of address direct with companies house as a first step as my mail went to the accountants office rather than using my home address.

I haven't seen the NI letter yet, but no doubt its in Boox's office and has not been sent on.

Do not rely on them for anything, they have proven to be absolutely terrible and untrustworthy. I would have expected people to receive a letter/email saying they are no longer engaged as accountant, but instead I think they've just closed up shop. At least it appears that way.

About the HMRC claims, I am in the same boat, other than use their portal to manage my RTIs etc, I see no way I am an MSC. But HMRC are trying to skew an unrelated legislation to take more money from contractors it appears. I have had no luck even getting replies from HMRC, even my appeals went unanswered.

What you can do is look back in this thread about joining the David Kirk group. You need conditional claims on your dividend tax and corporation tax or you could end up paying double tax those years if HMRC win in court.
Just got an update late last night from Boox.... Sale of Boox accounting and tax services to another accountancy firm Limelight.

All accounting services will be transferred to the new firm.

There isn't much on the HMRC situation, just a that they will continue to refute the claims. But nothing on whether they are still responding to letter on behalf of 'us' their clients.

Pretty much the just of it!
