As to whether a newspaper editor (and former Director of Communications for the Prime Minister) being determined by a jury in a court of law to be a lying weasel makes the UK corrupt: maybe it means we're not, as if we were he would have got away with it.

On the other hand, he did get away with it for an awfully long time; and I didn't see the once-Australian, now-American person who was paying his salary, presumably on the basis of the results of these illegal activities, being brought before the court.
I get your point, but my gut feeling is he was only found guilty because he didn't have the right connections, not that the establishment isn't corrupt

Something stinks when he's the only one to be found guilty, it feels more like Cameron sold him down the river to protect himself rather than a victory for English Law

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

Which political party do you support?

They need to go after rich people to make it "fair" especially as the Tories have turned on the plod and a few have them have been caught doing dodgy things like framing a "lovely" MP, being paid for news stories, lying about Hillsborough, causing the death of an innocent passer-by.....

Oh and to "phone hack" properly you use social engineering to get the lovely mobile operators customer service reps to reset the PINs on voicemail for lots of numbers to the default. Channel 4 news showed how it's properly done.

How do we know this board isn't littered with pro Murdoch spin doctor sock puppets?

The Daily Telegraph reckons this trial cost £100 million quid.

                  Money well spent?

Ah, the "rich people's crimes really aren't crimes, poor people's crimes are what we pay our taxes to have policed" school of jurisprudence

Given that the figure you quote is fantasy bulltulip, I'd say it's worth every penny

Prosecution costs are said to be £200,000. Defence barristers naturally milked Murdoch for all they could, but that's his problem. Once a costs order is made at the conclusion of the case, why don't you come back to us with some real figures?
