Pity the religions of the book landed us with all the nonsense about sex as being sinful in the first place. If we could only remove the millstone of religion from around our necks we would regard sex as what it is, a natural practice which is no different to eating.

I think you're doing it wrong.

And of course it's different. You have to eat, drink and breath to survive. You don't have to have sex to survive (except on a species level obviously).

So, you get people like Peter Tatchell who want to go into schools and help children make informed choices about their sexuality, basically by talking about the things that gay people get up to together, and he seems to think more people will embrace the gay lifestyle as a result.

If we are talking about lines being drawn, I'd suggest that they be drawn to prevent this kind of corruption from ever being allowed to happen. Sometimes you just get a gut instinct about something being wrong and normally one turns out to be justified in one's feelings. Well, this is one of those issues and my gut instinct is that teaching kids about gay sex is very, very wrong.
Your gut insitinct is based on a view that homosexuality is inferior to heterosexuality.

I have no more problem with my kids learning about gay sex than I do with them learning about straight sex.

My only concern with sex education is that I know that a number of my contemporaries were quite uncertain about their sexual identity, and dallied with both sides. Some settled on gay, some settled on straight and some stayed dallying! While perhaps some people's orientation is fixed early on, I'm sure that for many people it isn't. So to teach a child early on that if they have a same-sex attraction it means they're gay (or vice-versa) would be wrong, and I hope it doesn't actually happen.

You'd have no problem with somebody explaining acts like felching and rimming to your kids?

I'd whip mine out of that school like a shot..

Those acts are not exclusively homosexual

No they're not but that still doesn't mean I'd allow any adult to talk to my children about them.

No doubt they'll find out of their own accord in the playground anyway.

so why ask the question in this context?

But the gay vs straight element should not be a problem, unless you believe one is inferior to the other.
