Indeed, but because moderates on the left found themselves tarred with the same brush as the 'loony left' I just hope those of us who are moderately right winged (like me) don't some day end up tarred with the same brush as some of today's Daily Wail wingnuts.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

Harriet Harman 'regrets' former employer's link to paedophile lobbyists | Politics | theguardian.com

Harman said PIE was a front for "very bad people" and should not have existed but refused to say it was a mistake for the NCCL to take affiliation fees from the group. She accused the Mail of being a greater supporter of "indecency", claiming it was not above producing photos of "very young girls" in bikinis.

A spokesman for the Daily Mail criticised the MPs for failing to say sorry and claimed the "belated statements of Ms Harman and her husband – full of pedantry and obfuscation – failed to answer the Mail's central points and deny allegations the Mail has not made … as for smears, it is a newspaper's job to ask awkward and controversial questions – questions that in this instance are still awaiting a satisfactory answer," he added.

Last year Chakrabarti, who joined the organisation in 2001, issued an apology about the links between the NCCL and the PIE. In December, she said in a statement: "It is a source of continuing disgust and horror that even the NCCL had to expel paedophiles from its ranks in 1983 after infiltration at some point in the 70s."
Harriet I thought you were in favour of that??

What you are doing is buying into the smear that the Mail hints at, without evidence.
Why would I accuse Ms Harperson of something like that on a public forum?

If you consider my words carefully you will see that I am pointing out that people promulgating the "it was just expressing an opinion" are losing sight of the fact that the accusations being levied against the three are in fact a lot more serious than just expressing an opinion.

Except the left are at it too. I saw some nonsense on Facebook a few weeks ago saying that Cameron was a member of some student group at uni where someone said something anti-semitic or Nazi-ish, and therefore by association he must be a Nazi.

There are idiots on both sides.

or just call him a toff. Labour love the gutter.

I suspect like Milliband's dad we will find there is some truth (he was a very rich champagne socialist who said some bad things about the UK) but the Mail will fan the flames to sell papers.

You can't call the Conservatives toffs anymore as in their latest re-branding exercise they are now the Workers Party, honest, check Cameron's next speech...
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

So its the choice between the son of a successful stockbroker or the son of a rich career socialist teacher then?

It's the socialist workers party that you have to worry about

Just be worried if he talks in a german accent...
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.
