If that's so , why did Barroso come out and say it would be very difficult for an independent Scotland to join the eu.

    Are the sceptics paranoid?

Of is barroso bluffing? Perhaps he thinks such bullying rhteroc will mobilise the yes vote.
Because Spain really isn't comfortable with the idea of parts of EU countries splitting away, it's a bit close to home

It's about as likely as the EU becoming a democracy
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

Catalonia is watching the Scottish referendum with great interest and Barroso doesn't want to encourage them...

I thought you were resident (and loved it) in Germany, I don't understand the "We'll still be there" comment since clearly you aren't and haven't been for some time.

Your origins may be Jockanese, but you certainly don't appear to have any allegiance and probably not even the right to vote in the referendum.

I should have every right to vote since I come from a family whose lived on those lands for generations. I don't have a vote because of the eton boys. The referendum was made illegal by Westminster at first. The only only way to legalise it, according to Brussels, was to have a vote by the residents, and not identity, i.e. Scots.

That aside I would probably still be living in Scotland if the work existed. That would be my preference. The reality is UK government is only interested in the prosperity of one city in the UK. That must change.

Because the EU would lose its own reason of existence if member states split up. This why UKIP and the little Englanders are rooting for Scotland to go alone.
<Insert idea here> will never be adopted because the politicians are in the pockets of the banks!

So who are the Scots? My great grandparents lived in Glasgow for a while, do I get a vote? You can see why the EU is a little tetchy on the subject of deciding something based on the vague idea of ethnicity.

Presumably if Scotland does go independent, you'll be claiming to be a UK citizen so you can keep your right to live and work in Germany?
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

The people born there should be the ones deciding on the future of the country.

Are you suggesting I'd loose my UK passport because I was born in Scotland?

If you voluntarily give up citizenship you give up the privileges of citizenship as well. I'm sure Salmond will negotiate you a good deal though

But if you don't actually get to vote then perhaps not.

I didn't say you did. I actually pointed out you don't get a vote.

You are in retrograde intellectual motion aren't you.
