I have movicol which will hopefully soften it a bit, and a prescription thing called sodium docusate that's supposed to stop this from happening. I've had 3 movicol so far...

The trouble with enemas is they don't really soften it. I had a couple in the hospital and they make you go but it can be hell. On one of them I ended up having to break bits off with my fingers to get it out. It was half hour of screaming, i thought i would need stiches afterwards.

Don't overdo it - you could end up with the other extreme.
