The Scots won't vote for independence. Being ruled and looked after by England is the natural order of things for them.

I say, I say, I say, why did the Scotsman wear a skirt?
Because some Scots were told they had to by an Englishman when he found they were working to slowly in their own garb, and so invented skirts for them to wear. They then took pride in their subservience and decided it was a traditional Scottish piece of dress instead.
Oh, I forgot to add a punchline, opting for facts instead.Comment

Some victory. A Tory majority at every election.
Cost? The UK is broken up like a old car at the scrapyard.
Result? No one wants to hear from a country that cannot keep it's union together. Even the EU does a better job."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Mark TwainComment

How about:
Scotland vote for independence.
They offer a one off cash incentive, equivalent of a year's benefits to anyone who's been unemployed for > 1 year who's prepared to move to England.
They can then afford to lower taxes - both for individuals and business, thus attracting good people who will contribute to success.

The UK will be worse off without scotland in the short term, longer term it's hard to say. My feeling is scotland might see some short term gains but will be worse off in the long run. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'Comment
