Taper sounds good to me. You could think about carb loading on last 3 days? Carb/energy drink. 30 minute wait. 10 minute warm up, 3 minute sprint. The body will put carbs where they are needed - on the muscles! Can make you a bit aggressive - but a bit of caffeine on the day and you will fly.

"Monday work standing up in jogging pants whilst going commando.". I am buying some chamois cream after what happened last weekend :-

I would offer to share mine - but I only share my Chamois cream with MF.....

Chamois cream is a must, and get some Sudocrem as well in case you get sore anyway. Works wonders after the ride.

Don't tell MrsBP. I told her she had to kiss it better.

Been doing loads of exercise - signed up for BMF 2 weeks ago and haven't stopped hurting since! Just got back from running up and down a hill with plenty of pressups, situps and burpees thrown in for good measure.

Haven't been on the bike so much, but will make sure I get a decent ride in on Sunday, ready for next week.

Weather looks okay for next Sunday - hope it holds.

Driving in Snowdonia yesterday - torrential rain - saw some very miserable cyclists. And one or two who seemed very happy.
