I'll introduce you to my training partners!

One South African Grandad who thinks L2B is nearly flat, that 45 miles is a warm up & a teenage lass who is training to join the forces. Apparently I need to be able to do 100 miles for race day.

Trust me I'm still a lardarse! Just too vain to lie on the floor & cry for mummy. It was a bit close today!

19 miles with 2 punctures today. lots of hills (or in South African - little bumps in the road) though.

The bike is going to die before me! though I think its going to be close.

off to wiggle for some Kevlar tyres & slime inners.

      Endomondo is pretty good,

I'm there under my name I doubt there will be many in UK with my surname , seems popular in Australia so feel free to add me to your circle if you choose.

      Rest day tomorrow!

Cojak most of the drivers were pretty good, we did have a mini driver try to give us a shower (we have some flooding round here, as I was questioning his parentage my companion mentioned she knew him. I asked her to pass on my regards and knee in the fork from me!

Yes Suity do come on down on the 23rd. the more the merrier. But wear a mask I don't want to catch anything.

Make sure your tyres are properly inflated if your getting multiple punctures. Aim for 100psi on road tyres, stops you getting pinch flats.

Go for Continental Gatorskins (best) or Grand Prix Four Seasons (almost as good) for puncture resistant tyres. Don;t bother with the slime stuff, it's not worth it in my experience. Decent tyres properly inflated should give you no problems.

If your finding the ride quality a bit rough go up to 25mm or 28mm rather than the standard 23mm size. Makes a surprising difference to the comfort levels.

Cheers, agree tire pressure is the best way to prevent but in Sluff there is so much crud on the road armoured tires are essential. As I have been doing long (for me) runs I have been checking my pressure before I go out the foot pump in the garage is a lot easier than the hand pump.

They were both at 80psi (max on tire and I'm a big lad). First puncture was on my road, turned round and went back fitted new inner with slime (I thought might as well just in case, but its going back for refund). Second was about an hour later both on the back tyre.

I used to have some Vittoria's on my old bike with Kevlar that had lasted a few years hard commuting but some thieving scum nicked the bike.

I hadn't replaced the tires that came with my 20 year old hard rock from eBay(they were still good so I suspect the previous owner had replaced not long before he sold it). So tonight I'm spanking my card on Wiggle.

Lovely sunny day. Set out with great intentions of getting 20-30 good miles in. Managed two miles. Broke bike. Walked home.

You'll be pleased to hear that the bike shop have fixed my bike - FOC. I'm just having some lunch, then will decide whether to go for a quick 15 miler just to spite you
