There are plenty of people with names that might look like they're from other parts of the world that are nationals of European countries.

Nowt. If in fact they were French then any abuse would be completely justified, but then as a Southern gimp you wouldn't have the sense to spot that!

No, they weren't but the question is still valid.

The idea with discrimination or racism is the creation of a climate of equal treatment, not special treatment for some races/nationalities/religions.

Not to some of the more hyper sensitive it isn't. The view is that certain groups need that extra "protection" to avoid offence. The fact that many in those groups are excessively likely to scream is possibly the root cause. That scenario is certainly visible in my home town with the Police and local authorities.

If they'd been French I doubt he would have highlighted their names. Perhaps if they'd been obviously Eastern European. But yes, I would have.
