That was a cup game. This guy picks his records carefully out of big dusty books!Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

I only read about this the other day, unbelievably shocking. Just cover the bodies up and finish the game. WTF?Originally posted by stek View PostMy dad was there, 13 years old and sat on the running track next to 33 dead men.
Being LFC fan I have no love of ManYoo but getting rid of the back room staff was a mistake (esp Meulensteen) Giggs and P Neville can't make that jump yet.
Mata will be a quality signing, really wish LFC had gone in for him, reminds me of an Alonso type player.
qhHe had a negative bluety on a quackhandle and was quadraspazzed on a lifeglug.
I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

I hadn't heard of this before, can't believe
I won't be able to hear the the Bill Shankly quoteThe dead and injured were taken from the stand, with those who had perished lain along the touchline and covered in coats. A little under half an hour after leaving the pitch, the game was restarted, with a new sawdust lined touchline separating the players from the bodies. At the end of the first-half, the players immediately changed ends and started the second half. Stanley Matthews was on the Stoke team, and later said he was sickened that the game was allowed to continueagain without thinking of Burnden Park"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck,it must be a duckComment

Yeah my dad used to stand on the Railway Embankment End at Burnden (where the crush was) but couldn’t get a ticket.Originally posted by quackhandle View PostI only read about this the other day, unbelievably shocking. Just cover the bodies up and finish the game. WTF?

So he went to the YMCA in town (not a gaylord zone then!) and some guy from the the Football Club came down and asked for people to sell programs and if they where all sold, they got in the game.
So off he went, sold the programs and was sat on the running track in from the main (Manchester Road) stand along with other lads who had done the same program selling thing. No tickets no nothing.
My Dad told me he looked at the Railway Embankment End where he normally stood and all the peoples heads where in perfect lines, it was packed so tight.
He also said the Burnden Paddock and the Great Lever End were empty because the Ministry of Food were still using the stands for food storage.
The crush happened and people were all over the pitch, order was restored and my Dad said they laid the bodies along side where he was set on the floor and covered them up with their coats and the game carried on.
My Uncle was also there, on the Railway Embankment End, he was about 8, and was passed down over heads onto the pitch for safety before the crush.
Sad day.

Can't agree more. To remove all the backroom staff seemed very stupid and is proving to be the case. I was under the impression that Fergie was trying to emulate the Liverpool thing of the backroom staff taking over and promoting from within but that obviously wasn't the case. I do like the idea of Giggs taking on coaching duties, but not at the expense of a coach that knew what they were doing, while he is still learing the job!Originally posted by quackhandle View PostI only read about this the other day, unbelievably shocking. The club seemed to get 110% out of the team last year. This year we are seeing it without the backroom involved.Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

Nothing like Alonso unless I am missing something? Alonso is a play maker/DM - exactly what United need - another Paul Scholes/Keane or somewhere in the middle.Originally posted by quackhandle View PostI only read about this the other day, unbelievably shocking.
