There are many things that are legal but some people might think are not okay - so what?

The post Greg was responding to WRT homosexuality concerns something that people are and cannot change and whether this means they deserve fewer rights than others. Not really sure why the ethics of adultery are remotely relevant as this is something someone has knowingly chosen to do.

+1 adultery is a lifestyle choice.

To be against adultery is to be against what some people do.
To be against homosexuality is to be against what some people are.

      To pre-empt the next argument:

To be against child abuse is to be in favour of protecting children from sexual exploitation to which they lack the capacity to consent.

what about to be against pedophilia?

I don't think we should judge what goes on between consenting adults, the time to judge is when it with someone who cannot make informed decisions.

Do you mean against the act of child abuse or the sexual preference for children, which may not be acted upon?

Are we discussing hating gay people, or whether accepting gay people means they should automatically be allowed to marry, adopt, etc? Because I don't think gay people are evil or sick, they're just people - but neither do I agree with gay marriage or gay adoption.

I wasn't discussing hating gay people. I was discussing allowing gay people the same civil rights as straight people, including the rights to marry and adopt in the same way.

And in the same way that we would allow mixed race straight couples these rights where in some societies they were once denied these rights.

We were discussing whether married couples should have the same rights with respect to adoption regardless of their sexual orientation.

However, we too a slight detour to explain to you that whether someone is homosexual is not compariable to whether they commit adultery and that these false comparisons are often used as an excuse for homophobic bigotry.

Why don't you tell us some of your logical reasons that you don't agree with gay marriage or adoption?

And not just 'don't agree with', but why those reasons should be enshrined in law.

Does right and wrong work on logic in the first place? I doubt it.
