But I take the point: I just need to spend the time, even if I'm not enjoying it. The original point was more about enjoying exercise, or at least doing it automatically. That is what I can't seem to find a way to do.
I'm the same. I quite enjoy sport but am phenomenally bad at it and it's a pain to organise. I need to be distracted or be exercising "by accident"... without my iPad I'd get 15min on the bike and decide I felt tired and give up, which is what happened when I tried to take up running.

That's why I suggested walking to work, because it is at least achieving something rather than just going for a walk. You could try listening to music or even audio-books, my point was at least this way you wouldn't need to get home and think "oh crap now I have to go out and exercise"

I go to the gym first thing in the morning to avoid that
most mornings I have to tell myself "I'll be fine once I've warmed up" and most mornings I am!
It was tough over the summer when I was suffering from the usual seasonal insomnia, working out after 4 hours sleep is extra hard work

Well I had chicken vindaloo, garlic nan with a pakora starter last night, later on some caramel cake and then mince pies with cream.

None of which a caveman would find lying about in the paleolithic period.

I couldn't do that, not if I wanted to get to work at a sensible time... I assume you go to work via the gym?

Gym is only 10 minutes walk from mid week digs so I get up at 6.30, in the gym by 6.50, hours workout then back by 8 for a shower and then get to the office by 9
Last contract was similar but I had to be at the gym by 6.30
before that I was up at 5.45, drove for an hour to get to the gym near the office and then showered and dressed there after working out

The feeling of having had a heavy workout is quite nice, especially in winter as it keeps me feeling toasty all morning

I've been rubbish since the clocks changed.

Used to cycle to/from work, but don't like cycling home in the dark.

Ditto with my run round the pond after work.
