It would make more sense if you said that a high carb diet is more likely to result in, or even cause, a large +ve energy imbalance. Cos ultimately it *is* an energy balance issue. The problem is people eat too much, and I do think the amount of processed food in modern diets has something to do with that.Originally posted by russell View PostI'm not convinced myself by the wheat thing, however I believe that a diet high in carbs is the cause of obesity, not the energy imbalance of too many calories in vs out.
I personally have the opposite problem now, I actually struggle to consume enough calories & protein to maintain weight. I am constantly thinking about my next meal or snack, even when I'm eating. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'Comment

So if you're aiming for 80% fat in your diet and you've just eaten all that protein, where's that going to come from? A tub of lard a day?Originally posted by russell View PostSome say its more like 1g per kilo minus 10%. So I would need around 85g to maintain.
3 eggs and a couple of chicken breasts or a steak/burger should be enough, that around 85g of protein, add more if you want to build. And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014Comment

Only if you choose calorie dense food. Most food, even stuff with carbs in like fruit and veg, is no more energy dense now than it ever has been.Originally posted by russell View PostFood nowadays is calorie dense so you need to exercise for hours just to burn off a small meal. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you.
