Finance Projects Volunteer Job in Macclesfield - Jobsite

    Finance Projects Volunteer
    Job Type: Permanent
    Location: Macclesfield, Cheshire
    Salary:Unpaid Voluntary
    Start Date: TBC
    Duration: Permanent
    Reference:280389-FINANCE---EC

    About the opportunity
This role will involve managing a project from project outline (identified by Head of Finance) to completion with support from the Head of Finance. This is likely to involve: ' talking to members of staff and volunteers to understand the current process; ' critically appraising the process in light of that area but also the finance processes as a whole; ' identifying potential system and control improvements, investigating the likely impact of any changes across departments and systems; ' working collaboratively with staff to effect change where required; ' providing training and support to staff who do not have a financial background; ' reviewing and updating finance processes; ' documenting finance processes; ' implementing and training new processes; ' drafting finance policies; This is a broad role which will suit someone who is self motivated and able to work at all levels. It will require an ability to get into the detail of how the systems and processes work as well as being able to stand back and take a view on the 'big picture' outcomes. It will also require great communication skills to ensure financial requirements are understood by all staff and volunteers, many of whom may have no financial background. It is envisaged that individual projects may take 1-2 weeks to complete on a full time basis and will require on site working. However, projects will only be required from time to time and therefore time requirements will be irregular. Following an informal discussion, applicants will need to fill in an application form, and give contact details of 2 people whom we can ask for references. There will also be a formal interview. You will receive regular supervision, support and training where appropriate to consolidate developed skills. The minimum age for volunteers is 18. The closing date for applications is 12th November 2013.

    About East Cheshire Hospice
East Cheshire Hospice aims to provide a caring and happy environment for our patients where they can feel physically and emotionally comfortable; at the same time, providing support to family and carers during this difficult period. Our Hospice provides care for adults with life-limiting illnesses living in East Cheshire and some parts of North Derbyshire. Most of the patients we care for are suffering from cancer, however we also admit people with other conditions such as multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease and HIV/AIDS As a highly regarded charity, based in Macclesfield, East Cheshire Hospice cares for adults suffering from life-limiting illnesses from which there is no cure. Our mission is to make every day count for our patients and those important to them. Because of the Government s healthcare reforms and demographic changes the charity is facing significant change over the next few years. In the last year, we treated 263 patients in our 15-bed in-patient unit and 205 patients used our Sunflower Centre for day care. Our annual budget is approximately 2.5 million, about 22% of our costs being covered by the NHS, the remainder coming from legacies, grants from trusts, donations, a lottery and many fund-raising events.

    What are they looking for?
    Recognised accountancy qualification
    Reliable and dependable
Able to commit to seeing an individual project to completion

My bad! I saw East Cheshire, thought it was East Cheshire NHS Trust and saw red (as anyone would who has worked with NHS Finance departments).

Not all bad - posting it on here should actually mean someone is more likely to find it.
