Finance Projects Volunteer
Job Type: Permanent
Location: Macclesfield, Cheshire
Salary:Unpaid Voluntary
Start Date: TBC
Duration: Permanent
Reference:280389-FINANCE---EC
About the opportunity
This role will involve managing a project from project outline (identified by Head of Finance) to completion with support from the Head of Finance. This is likely to involve: ' talking to members of staff and volunteers to understand the current process; ' critically appraising the process in light of that area but also the finance processes as a whole; ' identifying potential system and control improvements, investigating the likely impact of any changes across departments and systems; ' working collaboratively with staff to effect change where required; ' providing training and support to staff who do not have a financial background; ' reviewing and updating finance processes; ' documenting finance processes; ' implementing and training new processes; ' drafting finance policies; This is a broad role which will suit someone who is self motivated and able to work at all levels. It will require an ability to get into the detail of how the systems and processes work as well as being able to stand back and take a view on the 'big picture' outcomes. It will also require great communication skills to ensure financial requirements are understood by all staff and volunteers, many of whom may have no financial background. It is envisaged that individual projects may take 1-2 weeks to complete on a full time basis and will require on site working. However, projects will only be required from time to time and therefore time requirements will be irregular. Following an informal discussion, applicants will need to fill in an application form, and give contact details of 2 people whom we can ask for references. There will also be a formal interview. You will receive regular supervision, support and training where appropriate to consolidate developed skills. The minimum age for volunteers is 18. The closing date for applications is 12th November 2013.
