Natural Justice by Ken Binmore is very interesting. I have one called "Complexity and the Arrow of Time" after that. Then I might have a crack at Vicious Circles: On the Mathematics of Non-Wellfounded Phenomena Center for the Study of Language and Information Publication Lecture Notes: Amazon.co.uk: Jon Barwise, Lawrence Moss: Books which looks interesting. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.' -

Although of course I don't know with complete certainty whether I know that I know nothing with complete certainty.Originally posted by masonryan View PostThen you know nothing. Thanks for confirming that.
I think religion probably works better for you, because it presents so-called 'unchanging pillars' for you to hold on to. Stick with it, but choose one that hasn't changed too much in the last couple of thousand years. I guess that discounts all three of the big Abrahamic religions. And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014Comment

Can someone explain the term 'false logic' to masonryan, (and how it is used by trolls to divert arguments)?Originally posted by masonryan View PostThose are the results of modern science, founded by Christians not loud-mouthed atheists."I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."

Exactly.Originally posted by masonryan View PostSo you don't believe the laws of logic are absolute? Then why would you trust any scientific theory as they could be wrong tomorrow if laws of logic can just change.
Scientific theory has changed over time. Science is only correct until proven otherwise - assert something, prove it, get it peer reviewed, get it accepted as fact. Until something comes along and disproves it.
Part of this involves having an open mind. As a Christian who believes in evolution, I don't see that as an issue - there is actually an argument to be had that evolution confirms the existence of God. There is enough evidence, based on the current scientific thinking that evolution is fact. Prove it wrong, collect your Nobel prize.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI hadn't really understood this 'pwned' expression until I read DirtyDog's post.Comment
