All social housing has massively subsidised rents. Which is why it is so ridiculous to have so many wealthy people living in social housing. We would be better off subsidising needy people rather than bricks and mortar which is rationed and often in sub optimal parts of the country away from potential jobs. -

You are making it very complicated. Think of the simpletons; the world is too complicated for them as it is.

So we get an immigrant family across so the dad can take up a minimum wage job in a hospital and we give him a house, tax credits and lets his 3 kids go to school.
What was I thinking? that clearly is economically advantageous to the country.Comment

Maybe not, but if there's nobody else prepared to clean the tulip off hospital beds and floors, there'll be hygiene issues.Originally posted by minestrone View PostSo we get an immigrant family across so the dad can take up a minimum wage job in a hospital and we give him a house, tax credits and lets his 3 kids go to school.

Plus migration is never straight forward - there are those migrants who are married to British citizens, those who came here as children, and those who are OAPs and have lived here since they were 20, included in most UK migration figures.
We can deport children and we do deport children.Comment

Why should the 'Natives' take a job on below subsistence wages when we pay them benefits?Originally posted by SimonMac View PostA lot of migrants come in and take the low paid / unskilled jobs that the natives find too demeaning to do themselves, as they are low earners they are entitled to tax credits and housing assistance, are you saying the same natives who sit on their arse watching Jeremy Kyle are more deserving for the social housing?
If its the 'Natives' fault they can't be bothered to work maybe we should fix that not supplant them.
wonder if this is because the 'New Natives' are breeding more?Despite the positive figures in the decade since the millennium, the study found that between 1995 and 2011, immigrants from non-EEA countries claimed more in benefits than they paid in taxes, mainly because they tended to have more children than native Britons.Comment

There were plenty of people prepared to do that, they just don't want to do it for less money than they need to live reasonably when they can claim benefits.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostMaybe not, but if there's nobody else prepared to clean the tulip off hospital beds and floors, there'll be hygiene issues.Comment

Exactly, too many wealthy people benefit from the status quo yet still feel the need to have a dig at those with few options.Originally posted by vetran View PostThere were plenty of people prepared to do that, they just don't want to do it for less money than they need to live reasonably when they can claim benefits.
An open door policy was only ever going to exasperate the situation, it's only the comfortably off who seem to think it's a good idea.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

Not if they turn up on their own without their parents - then the state ( in other words us) - have a duty of care for them until they are 18. Once they reach that age as they know no other country they are given leave to remain. Some parents have actually committed suicide to ensure their son or daughter remains in the UK.Originally posted by minestrone View PostWe can deport children and we do deport children.
Not if their parents are here legitimately - SimonMac is complaining about migrants who are here legally getting social housing."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

They do breed more then they realise the error of their ways and encourage their children to breed less.Originally posted by vetran View Postwonder if this is because the 'New Natives' are breeding more?"You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment
