The only point of contention seemed to be whether to go to dinner with some friends and leave two toddlers alone in a separate building was an acceptable risk for a parent to take. I and some others think not, other seemed to think it was fine.

To save me reading 10 pages of long words I would have to look up, how did we get to homosexuals? Is it remotely relevant?
I think [but can't be sure] the point minestrone was attempting to make, was that it's probably not relevant whether the parents vocalise whatever it is they are feeling about the decision they made.

As far as I can see, d000hg asked Hairy whether he sat in his locked house with his kids.

Hairy asked d000hg if he locks his doors. d000hg asked Hairy why he's so interested in his back doors.

Hence the rather predictable homosexual element was added. Voila!

There he goes again. Note the addition/omission of "at night" where it suits his purpose.

I repeat, my back door - during the day or night - is none of your business. Suggesting my back door backfired is rather vulgar.

I'll stop it when he gets his nose out of my back door.

            This thread is exhausting.

Some of us think that the parents do not shoulder some of the blame.

Some of us do and can't believe others see it differently.

Some of us can't have a discussion without bringing wildly improbable scenarios into the mix and of course, throwing insults.

Some of us can't answer simple questions.

And the vast majority of us don't give a tulip (no pun intended!) about anyones back door.

I have no interest in d000hg's back door, merely if he locks all his doors. He seems unable to answer, simply choosing to ask me why I am interested in one of his doors. I am not, I am interested if he locks them, with people inside.

              Seems he's scared to answer.

He's gone out to suggest I am a homosexual paedophile on another post. I think he needs a lie down today.

Initially it was an actual debate, CUK style. An excellent diversion from the day!

But now it's kind of embarrassing.

On a serious note, I was wondering why is this case still such big news? A child disappearing is terrible and unusual, but there must have been a few (or maybe quite a lot) of such cases in the intervening years? Surely the resources expended on such a cold trail could be more efficiently used on several newer cases.

If the girl turned up, would we even know it was her... surely she could be sitting on a beach next to you and you'd not even guess who it was?

It's big news, because the parents won't let it go. If they believe Madeline is alive, then I think they're absolutely right (and is what "good parents" would do!) By keeping the case alive, if she was sitting next to you, there's a small chance you'd spot her, if they don't there isn't.
