Have the mods gone overboard with the recent banning's?
The mods are spot on. This is a pretty nasty bunch of ill mannered geeks to most outsiders.
I was at a client last year and someone noticed me on the forum in a lax half a day and just stared wide eyed saying you don't actually post on there do you they are brutal! before wandering off. So you only have to note the number of visitors vs the number of shaven apes in general to see that we are scary to outsiders and need to mellow out a bit.
Unless you let that duck feeding B@stard hack back on in which case its on like donkey Kong!

Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

It's not hankering after the good old days, it's hankering after some level of consistency of moderation.
How can there be complete consistency with something like this? There is no consistency to the idiotic tulip posted, so even following a set of moderation rules is going to be a matter of judgement.
It's like in football, everyone goes on about wanting consistency from the officials, until it affects them and then they claim the ref should have used their discretion to avoid spoiling a match.
