The programme manager on my previous contract used to kiss everyone good morning. I ran out of places to hide in the end, so had to leave.
Tosser.Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

In my previous gig, I remember a guy arriving from the states, bursting into the portacabin that housed me and a dozen Indian guys and announcing "Hey, I'm here!" Even he was slightly phased by the complete non-reaction of his audience. In the end I took pity and muttered, "Hi".Originally posted by MarillionFan View PostHigh fives, whooping and chest bumps in my office followed by a chant 'USA USA USA'

It's a tough one this. I have worked with many countries in Europe and the MEA over the last 3 years and it is a minefield trying to decide what to do when meeting colleagues, particularly when dealing with countries that have a strong culture and respect is key like Middle Eastern ones.Originally posted by mudskipper View PostContinental colleagues visiting. Knowing who to kiss on the cheek which is the norm in Algeria/Morocco and very offensive to ladies from Egypt, and who to shake hands with is an utter nightmare.
I tend to just wait until they make their move first, if they stick their hand out then great, if they move in then offer a cheek up.... oh yeah, and don't forget some people do one cheek, some do both... Jesus...
