I've cycled without a helmet for almost 40 Years. They only time i did have to wear one was during BMX racing as it was the law... I'm a firm believer that helmets make cyclist act like helmets. (Like cycling up the inside at left junctions!!)Comment

Are you a firm believer that if you wore a helmet you'd instantly turn into more of a helmet? What's your own reason for not wearing one?
In my experience as a car driver in a commuter city, the worst cyclists are those who don't have a helmet. Far more likely to do something idiotic, because they appear to have zero awareness of anything going on around them.
One exception - helmet + lycra is a lethal combination.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

Would you force your way down that same space if you had a car that fitted?
The traffic wasn't moving it was stationary.
Even if the traffic was moving slower than the cyclist was going, you never go down the the inside of a vehicle in the left most lane at a junction.
Cycle lanes are actually a guide - there is absolutely no law forcing you to use them and in some cases using a cycle lane will get you killed.
Cycle lanes, road junction layout and traffic calming measures in this country are done by someone in a planning office not by someone who walks, cycles and drives a variety of vehicles. They tend to be modified when there are big accidents or when parents of a local school complain.
I suggest you get on a bike and see why sometimes it's a good idea for a cyclist not to use cycle lanes/paths and why they have to go in front of you.Last edited by SueEllen; 23 August 2013, 11:48."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment
