Don't think so. I did see an irate chap that looked like a huge potato running after me on his little matchstick legs, but he didn't stand much chance. Might have been MF though.Originally posted by bobspud View PostHave we met?And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014Comment

The same arguments are used with skiing. But mostly now, the only people you see on the slopes without a helmet are the Brits.
There are legitimate arguments for not making helmets compulsory, but there are no arguments for not wearing one yourself - except your freedom to not protect yourself if you don't want to.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

But if you want that freedom you shouldn't expect everyone else to pay your hospital bills surelyOriginally posted by NotAllThere View PostThe same arguments are used with skiing. But mostly now, the only people you see on the slopes without a helmet are the Brits.

Only if it's a head injury though.Originally posted by northernladuk View PostBut if you want that freedom you shouldn't expect everyone else to pay your hospital bills surely
and wearing a helmet can restrict vision and hearing, leading to non-head injuries.
Therefore, people not wearing a helmet must pay hospital bills for head injuries
people wearing a helmet must pay hospital bills for non-head injuries, where the cause of accident may, within 2 standard deviations of doubt, have been caused by impaired senses. excluding taste of course.

Are you wearing a full motorcycle helmet on your pushbike? Most road cyclists wear a type of helmet that covers the top of their head, not their eyes or ears.Originally posted by EternalOptimist View Postand wearing a helmet can restrict vision and hearing, leading to non-head injuries.Comment

Obviously there would be a sliding scale for 'sensory-friendly' lids. excluding taste, of course.Originally posted by Ticktock View PostAre you wearing a full motorcycle helmet on your pushbike? Most road cyclists wear a type of helmet that covers the top of their head, not their eyes or ears.

As EO so eloquently demonstrated, that's not a line of argument anyone wants to go down.Originally posted by northernladuk View PostBut if you want that freedom you shouldn't expect everyone else to pay your hospital bills surely
But if your ski helmet or bike helmet restricts your vision or hearing - get a new helmet.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

If motorbike riders can see where they're going with a massive helmet at 100mph, the "I can't see as well" argument when doing 15mph on a pushbike just smacks of a)trying to find an argument to do what you already decided you want b)being useless in the first place.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment
