Er, not sure I agree - Traditionally cruise missiles haven't actually been very fast. So it's mainly a matter of being able to track them, by satellite for example, and having a sufficient density of ground-to-air missiles, or even air-to-air missiles if fast planes have been scrambled, to intercept them.

But I'm fairly sure the Russkies, and possibly the Yanks, are now working on a new generation of hypersonic cruise missiles which would be a different kettle of fish.

My solution to women in IT

If you are one of those who think there should be more women in IT, I have a cheap solution, which is politically unacceptable, but I believe effective.

            Tell the girls
            a) How much more money you get with a tech degree
            b) Tell them the pay gap in IT is about the lowest of any career.

            err, that's it.

I have put this to teachers and the feedback shows it will happen over their dead bodies.

So, to get women into IT, get them drinking pints.

(There is a serious point somewhere in this post I think)
I drink the odd pint and I'm not a techoo.
Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

What about more male nursery assistants, secretaries, nurses etc.

Cultural stereotypes impact both men and women, the real question should be 'how can we prevent cultural stereotypes and prejudices around gender from impacting candidate selection.'

                  Good luck with that one.

I was talking about an aircraft intercept.
