Interesting anecdote here from a woman who was in a similar position as a girl - basically her conclusion is that at the time she thought it was fine, looking back it wasn't and she's a bit angry, but no real harm was done.Comment

Sad story.
I mean, of course he's stupid (as is she). He had options (resigning, waiting till she's 16 to make it official, etc.) and he made poor choices. And it's unlikely to be a sustainable relationship.
But, for Christ's sake, I don't think I've seen a case like this before where the 'perpetrator' cared THAT much about having the girl's explicit consent.
I disagree with a fixed age of consent for teenagers. I believe it should be assessed on a case by case basis. Some, such as this one, are perfectly able to consent and understand what consent means.Comment
