Unfortunately, major decisions are not based on facts and statistics. They're based on people's interpretations of them (their opinions). In the real world, opinions are more important, and the fact that you may disagree with them, or know that people have not come to the "logical" solution doesn't make one superior, or mean that everyone should change your mind to agree with you, just because you may be technically right.
